| Kinetix SpeedStop V-Brakes |
|
| Brakes are pretty important: use
cheap ones and you'll end up sliding into oncoming traffic at
a stoplight whenever it rains. That's why we demand the most
advanced brake technology for all of our bikes. We decided that
we didn't want to simply slap stock MTB V-brakes onto our Premium
bikes so we designed our own V brakes incorporating the latest
technology and suited to the unique geometry of our bikes. The
result: ultra smooth and powerful Kinetix SpeedStop V-brakes.
The SpeedStop front brake includes our custom Flex brake noodle.
The brake noodle (the curved pipe that connects the cable to
the brake) that is found on all V-brakes is typically a rigid
pipe. However we found that this pipe can be easily damaged
during the folding and unfolding process. Our solution: a flexible
stainless steel pipe that is much more resistant to damage.
For 2005, we've added SilentGrip ceramic brake pads: not only
do they function significantly better in wet or dry conditions
but they are guaranteed never to squeal. In DIN tests conducted
by an independent lab in Germany, SilentGrip pads are comparable
to Shimano pads when dry, measurably superior when wet, and
several dB quieter under all conditions. Obsessive attention
